English - Luca Macchi: La Zattera dell'Arte e della Poesia

From 4 to 27 July 2025, the Church of Santa Maria della Spina will provide the evocative setting for the solo exhibition by Luca Macchi, curated by Nicola Micieli, titled The Raft of Art and Poetry. Within this small Gothic jewel overlooking the Arno, a dozen works explore the theme of life’s journey and the search within Art and the World, with all the symbolic and poetic force characteristic of Macchi’s work.

The exhibition is anchored in a poetic text written by the artist himself, which tells the story of building a raft—a metaphor for Art and Poetry. A makeshift vessel: fragile, yet essential. Like the one Ulysses constructs when leaving Calypso’s island—unstable, uncertain, but driven by a powerful will to begin again.
